Rapid relaxation moving towards inner calm
Meeting our pain body
What interesting times we find ourselves in. Imposed community restrictions as a result of Covid-19 virus which is forcing us into spaces we haven’t had to go before. This presents most of us with challenge, as we are forced to face our pain bodies. We are becoming more aware of our own physical discomfort and tension as we face aspects of ourselves that we generally mask.
This veil that we live behind is so well developed that we don’t even realise that we have moved into a strategy of control. Some may withdraw, adopt an avoidance approach or want to run away to avoid the pain. We are just so masterful at the craft of disguise that all too often we just don’t realise that these controls exist in our lives.
Unfortunately these challenging times in isolation are placing people right in the middle of their personal pain. The usual outlets may not be accessible due to current restrictions. We can’t just catch up with friends, shop until we drop or hit the gym.
Relaxation a learned skill
Developing positive actions to reduce stress through relaxation methods can be truly helpful. If we take the time to work through this simple exercise it’s possible to bring about a state of calm in the body, our speech and mind. When you are feeling the beginning of tension try the following short technique.
Simple relaxation technique
This short 10 minute practice draws on the bodies natural way of relaxing through a sigh. Using a conscious breath in and a long sigh out will leave you feeling a wave of relaxation as the body just gives into the process and lets go.
I have recorded this short practice to assist a rapid relaxation process. Through regular practice the relaxation phase will become easier to find when in need.
