Precept – To be kind and compassionate to all beings

The precept to be kind and compassionate to all is a hard one to understand. Not only does it ask you to think beyond the external life of family and friends to include all people, but it goes beyond this also to consider all beings land, sea, air and those unseen.
So when we bring the precept to mind it’s important to consider our motivation and what we really mean. The deeper you go in practise this precept will come alive in very different ways.

Developing mirror like consciousness
Things are just what they are
Developing mirror like consciousness is to be able to see absolutely everything just as it is. This space of mind is aware that emptiness is both form and emptiness.
Amidst the spaciousness and openness of mind our own consciousness is released enabling the experience to be witnessed just as it is with out the need to add any overlays. No other labels are needed it’s just seen as an arising. This is a clear mind experience absent of impression. This consciousness is knowingness itself and reflects back the lived experience just as it is without distortion.

Laughter and Play
Laughter and play the best medicine. We need this right now, we need to reconnect with that innocent inner child to fill our bucket.

The importance of Sangha
Sangha which is a community of practitioners is at the heart of Makoto ReikiDo. Sangha is so important not only for practice support, sharing a journey and growing together but to help each other when it’s needed in often simple ways.

External and internal dimensions
It’s so easy for those who come along to learn Reiki to have an experience. The experience is pretty cool, different and not your usual everyday occurrence so it’s exciting.
You may begin to feel a little brighter, more relaxed and calmer. However, for most people this is only enough to hold a persons motivation in temporary ways. The reality is the external practice is all a person really scratches at and Reiki is only seen as a cool experience seeing colours, feeling sensations and gaining a glimpse of insights if your lucky.
Those who stay in practise move to the inner dimensions and truly begin to unveil the truth of the illusion.

Illusion of anger
A wonderful on line Sangha where we spent time discussing the integration of Reiki into life through our lived experiences.
We explored the illusion of anger and the method of bringing awareness to anger as a strong emotion. Recognising the emotion for what it is, bringing awareness to the feelings of anger in the body and connecting with the feeling in the body, acknowledging the false nature of the anger and to be able to step back and re calibrate.
We also explored the healing qualities of kindness and compassion and the powerful movement these energies can have in transmuting pain and suffering. 🙏🏻🌸 #anger#emotions #kindness #compassion
Reiki and Buddhism
Reiki cannot be removed from Buddhism. The Founder Usui was his entire life Buddhist. He gifted Reiki as a means for people to practice a spiritual path without dogma. However, depending on the person practising this can be used in simple or profound ways. Reiki is Dharma and is a system with many hidden treasures of the Buddha’s teachings.
The system of Reiki is about watching one’s mind. But it also involves studying the relationship between body, mind, external influences, and karmic tendencies of previous lives.
Through practice we become aware of internal and external conditions that influence our lives. This in turn enables us to see these environments with wisdom and question our assumptions and preconceptions. This is the practice of Reiki 🙏🏻🌸

Gross mind is like the surface of the ocean
Mind is just like the ocean it’s expansive, spacious, constantly moving and yet in the depths there is stillness, serenity and peacefulness. On the surface the current is strong and changing, stirring up thoughts, feelings and emotions which we grasp on tightly to. The more we pay attention to these arisings the greater our insight to see them as just that, simple arisings. We can then lessen the grip and allow ourselves to experience the calmer aspects of mind 🙏🏻🌸
Healing
Healing or Reiki Healing presents to people as though the Practitioner is making a person physically well of a sickness. The word healing alone sounds as though there is an action to make well. This is an incorrect perception. The healing aspect is about awakening to the truth and for some a glimpse is all that is needed to spark the curiosity to seek further the wisdom 🙏🏻🌸
Compassionate self-care
Where self-care is about oneself, it is also far more subtle a practice than we realise. When we understand ultimate reality we realise self-care is not just about oneself but is truly about the benefit of all beings.
To attain this level of understanding first a practitioner must realise emptiness and true nature. When this is grasped self-care becomes a whole different ball game.
Looking after ourselves is something many of us but behind the care of others but when we see the deeper and far reaching benefit it becomes so much more important. Taking care of our physical vessel allows us to practice for the benefit of others.
How do we get there?
– Every aspect of the system of Reiki should be practised diligently as each offers a means to uncover our inner great bright light. Our self-care is the means to deepen this truth and to unlock the door to the inner wisdom of compassion for all beings.
– Deepen your understanding through Buddhist philosophy and get to know the map of the mind, mental afflictions, bodhisattva practises and emptiness. Usui throughout his life until his death was a Lay Buddhist and Tendai Priest.
All important on a spiritual journey
